Don’t Buy a New Vanity

Seriously don’t’ buy a new vanity; you can easily transform the one you have into this.

I just love the way this vanity turned out!

Hi frugal friends!  I hope you’re having a great week! We have here at Frugal Country Life. We have been helping one of our sons remodel his new home. We aren’t Chip and Joanna, but we are getting it done. His house is about 30 minutes away and we mostly work on the weekends. Occasionally we’ll do a little project some evenings after we get home from work (that stinking real job gets in the way again lol). So this remodel is a slooooow work in progress.

We totally gutted the upstairs bathroom. The one thing we saved out of it was the vanity. It’s a solid wood vanity, that really only needed to be “prettied up”. We hated to waste such a good piece. We also don’t have a $100,000 remodeling budget ;). Have you seen the price of new vanities?  Whew they are so expensive! We felt this was a really good piece to salvage, because it can easily be made into something really pretty.

This is what we are starting with. The bathroom has already been gutted or I’d show you a picture of it in place, but here it is removed from the bathroom and with countertop removed.

This is the old oak vanity we are starting with.
