The BEST Chili Seasoning Ever

Hi Frugal friends! I hope you’re having a great week! We are here at Frugal Country Life. We have actually had a little bit of cold weather here in West Virginia this week. We’ve had a really mild winter so far, which means our winter has been made up of lots of gray, dreary days with rain and mud mixed in. Yuck! So, the cold is kind of nice.

With the colder temps I’m planning on having chili for dinner this week. Don’t you just love a big bowl of chili on a cold day?

I pulled out my jar of chili seasoning mix and realized I’m nearly out. (I also need to make a new label 😜) here’s not enough left in this jar to make a pot of chili. So, I thought I’d share my Chili Seasoning recipe with you as I mix up a new batch.

This is the best chili seasoning! It makes a flavorful yet mild chili.

You may be surprised to know that you probably already have all the ingredients in your spice cabinet. It’s super easy to pull together.

The BEST Chili Seasoning

  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 3 Tbs cumin
  • 2 Tbs paprika
  • 2 Tbs onion powder
  • 2 Tbs garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbs sugar
  • 2 Tbs salt
  • 2 Tbs black pepper

I love making my own spice mixes. It’s so much cheaper than buying the little packets of chili seasoning. Once you make a batch, you’ll have chili seasoning in the pantry whenever ya want to whip up a pot of chili.

Chili is the perfect meal for weeknight dinners. I love to put it in the crockpot in the morning and let it simmer all day. Then when we come home from a long day at work dinner’s ready.

One of the best feelings is coming home to a dinner that’s
ready to eat. Of course, I like to make grilled cheese to go with this chili. I
know some people prefer peanut butter sandwiches with their chili though. Which team are you on? Grilled cheese or peanut butter?

I put my homemade spice mixes in pint mason jars. Then I use
the top from a Parmesan cheese container as the lid. They fit perfectly and
then you can either shake it or spoon it out of the top. They work perfectly.

Simply add the spices into the jar. It looks so pretty. Like
sand art 😜. Once you have all of the spices in the jar,
put the top on and shake it to mix them all together.

I use 2 tablespoons of the mix in a pot of chili, but if you
like yours spicier add more.

I hope you enjoy this seasoning mix and whip yourself up a
delicious pot of chili!

Y’all have a great week! Thanks for stopping by today! Come
back soon!
